Crane control system IC-1

New CC 2400-1 from Demag

As recently published by International Cranes, Terex-Demag in Germany will launch a new 400 tonne capacity crawler crane, the CC 2400-1. The new crane is being developed out of the CC 2200’s crawler chassis and will have a completely new boom system, Terex-Demag said. Maximum load moment of the “world” crane, designed for all markets, will be 5150 tonne-metres.

Features of the new crawler include variable superlift radius, variable main boom offset in SW (heavy main boom and luffing fly jib) and SWSL (SW with superlift) configurations, and the touchscreen IC-1 control system. Superlift radius can be adjusted from 9 to 15 m. In SWSL the main boom length is between 36 and 96 m and fly jib length is from 24 to 84 m. In main-boom-only SSL/LSL configuration maximum boom length is 126 m. In main boom-only SSL configuration it is 96 m, where, with superlift at 15 m radius the preliminary technical data sheet shows that at a maximum radius of 80 m, with 160 tonnes of counterweight and central ballast, the CC 2400-1 will lift 42 tonnes through 360 degrees. On a 54 m main boom, at a radius of 34 m, the chart shows a maximum load of 140 tonnes. The maximum 400 tonne capacity in SSL is achieved out to 12 m on a 42 m main boom.

The complete machine, including 100 tonnes of counterweight, 24 m of boom, and hook block, weighs 233 tonnes. For transport, the superstructure with three winches, hydraulic A-frame, carbody and self-assembly equipment weighs 59.6 tonnes. Each crawler is 23.4 tonnes, 10.25 m long and 1.3 m wide. The company’s previous 400 tonner was the Demag CC 2400 last produced in the early 1990s. Deliveries of the new CC 2400-1 are due to start early in 2006.

Terex Cranes at the Conexpo, Las Vegas

Terex Cranes at the Conexpo, Las Vegas, Stand: North Hall 1009. Terex, the world’s 3rd largest manufacturer of construction equipment will present part of its large product portfolio at the Conexpo show at Las Vegas.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 will be the world's largest international gathering place in 2005 for the construction and construction materials industries, showcasing the latest equipment, services and technologies. It will be held from March 15st until March 19th, 2005.

At the joint Terex stand (North Hall 1009, Terex cranes will be showing latest product designs – two Terex-Demag mobile cranes, one Terex-American crawler crane, a rough terrain crane by Terex Waverly, will be representing Terex Cranes’ strength on the US marketplace. The highly successful City Class by Terex-Demag is growing continuously. More than 1200 machines have been delivered since the series was launched in 1996. Their special capabilities enable operators to accomplish difficult mission tasks. The three-axle AC 55 City is one of the new designs that had been introduced at the Bauma 2004. Its lifting capacity is 65 US-tonnes – Demag’s experience with the series and customer feedback have been entered into the machine’s design. The crane disposes of a 40 meter (132 ft) main boom, a newly developed two-man cab and a novel counterweight system that may be supplemented on site.

The Terex-Demag AC 140 – introduced at the Bauma, too – has already become a bestseller in this class. The AC 140’s main boom is 60 meters (197 ft) in length and the max. lifting capacity is 170 US-tons; the machine uses the state-of-the-art technology of its successful larger siblings AC 160-1 and AC 200-1. Using the carrier of the AC 160-1 this crane offers easiest roadability in many US states due to the correct axle spacing and load distribution.

All the new products of course feature the intelligent Demag IC-1 crane control system that comes with a color display and touch screen as well as the UNIMEC telescoping and bolting system for the boom. A computer monitored hydraulic axle control provides improved safety, driving comfort, and agility on the and on soft surfaces.

The HC 165 is the latest development of Terex-American and fills the gap between their strongest crawler HC 275 and the HC 110. With 165 tons max lifting capacity and a very strong boom system the HC 165 is the most powerful crane in its class. As known from the other American products this crane impresses also by its easy transportation and the hydraulic counterweight removal system. 3 machines will be on display from Terex Cranes’ Waverly operations.

The boom truck RS70100 with its 70,000 lbs (31.7t) lifting capacity and a max. tip height of 140’ (42.7m) is an impressive vehicle. It’s Terex’ largest boom truck and shows the possibilities such a crane type can offer to fulfill customer needs. In addition to that 2 cranes with a max. lifting capacity of 75 US-tons are on display too. Those are the RT 775 with 134’ (40.8m) max tip height and the truck crane T775 with 133’ (40.5m) max tip height. Both cranes offer best cost/performance ratio and are very popular.

New 250 tons telescopic crane by Terex

Terex-Demag is working on a new 250 tons telescopic crane. The outstanding characteristic of this new 6-axle crane ought to be the 80 m (262,46 ft.) telescopic boom. Referring to the preliminary data the AC 250-1 will reach a radius of 74 m (242.78 ft.) with this boom. Using 96,6 tons of counterweight the maximum load at this radius will be 1,6 tons (1,76 US-tons). With the additional 36 m (118,11 ft.) of main boom extension the crane will reach a maximum boom length of 114 m (374 ft.) The extension can be tilted from 0° to 40°. For indoor working a 2-sheaved runner is available.

Caused by the speed-dependent steering the Carrier offers a high manoeuvrability and stability. The compact carrier is less than 15 m (49,21 ft.) long. The crane control system is the innovative IC-1 first shown at Bauma 2001. The AC 250-1 will be powered by an 8-cylinder Daimler-Chrysler diesel engine in the carrier and a 6-cylinder Daimler-Chrysler diesel engine for the upper structure. The first official presentation of the crane will be at Bauma 2004 in Munich.

CC 1500 :The new CC 1500 is a crawler crane based on the technology of the very successful CC 1800-1 but in a lighter version without Superlift attachment. The crane has a max. lifting capacity of 300 US-tons. This crane has been developed mainly for the US market to compete against the Manitowoc 999 and the Liebherr LR 1280 but is also very interesting for customers all over the world.

AC 110: The new AC 110 combines the practice-proven technology of the AC 100 with the outstanding new technology of the AC 160-1. The crane features a powerful superstructure, a 50 m main boom, and the 33 m boom extension of the renowned 100-tonner. To satisfy the US road regulations, the crane is equipped with the newly developed carrier of the 160-tonner with special US axle configuration and axle loads of less than 10 t. The carrier features the new speed-dependent rear axle steering and thus sets new standards in terms of both travel convenience and maneuverability.

AC 200-1: The new AC 200-1 with its 68 m boom is the longest in its category and provides a tremendous system length of 100 m. This is a very strong and versatile crane with 4 outrigger positions as standard, featuring the new electro-hydraulic rear axle steering and the ingenious crane control system IC-1.

AC 160-1: The new AC 160-1 is the little brother of the AC 200-1. The technology and many of its features are very similar to the AC 200-1, the boom length is 64 m with a system length of 96 m. Compared to the AC 200-1, this crane is roadable with 2.1 t of counterweight while axle loads keep within the 12 t limit. The AC 160-1 is one of the world’s first cranes that have been designed to satisfy most of the road regulations all over the world, using a special axle configuration for the carrier.
