New production facilities for Manitowoc in Wilhelmshaven
Manitowoc has opened two new halls for the production of the GTK 1100 and superstructures of GMK All Terrain cranes in Wilhelmshaven. The testing and storing area at the same time was increased with a further 12000 square meters. Also a new customer area was opened for the handover of the cranes to the customers.
GTK1100 - The new crane concept from Manitowoc Crane Group
GTK1100 from Grove is a totally new concept for lifting from the Manitowoc Crane Group. The main applications will be the erection of wind turbines and lifting in high areas. The biggest advantages in comparison to regular lifting cranes is the easy transporting of the components and the quick assembly. Beside of grove, making the main development, all parts of MCG like Manitowoc and Potain were involved in the construction. A kind of semitrailer carrying a vertical telescoping tower with a maximum height of 81 m, topped with a luffing telescopic boom, will reach a maximum overall height of 140 m. All components can be transported on 4 trailers. Accoring to preliminary numbers, the GTK1100, based on 4 cross based outriggers, will lift 70 to to a height of more than 120 m.
