iPhone App for rigging charts

Drew Merschat of RigIT LLC has developed and published a new interesting mobile App for the crane business. RigIT gives iPhone users instant access to rigging capacity charts. All charts include the basic hitches and their load capacities including vertical, choke and basic hitches. This new app also offers working load limits and diameters for screw pin shackles. Sims Crane provides Kobelco SL 6000

Sims Crane & Equipment Co. is announcing the availability of a 2008 Kobelco model SL6000, a 600 ton maximum capacity crawler, equipped with 276’ main boom, 98’ jib and heavy lift setup. The Kobelco SL6000 comes standard with a 3rd drum and links for optional Super Heavy Lift package (limited availability upon special request). 1000 tonne crawler crane from XCMG

According to KHL the chinese crane manufacturer XCMG has launched a new crawler crane with 1000 tonne capacity. The crane can be equipped with derrick mast and superlift tray. The manufacturer says that it has a removable spilt slew ring and more new patented technologies. Beside models from Zoomlion and Sany the new crawler crane from XCMG is the third one in that capacity offered from a chinese manufacturer. The newly state-run company started the production of crawler cranes in 1995 and offers now 16 different models in the range of 35 up to 1000 tonnes.



Franz Bracht crane hire in Porta Westfalica

Some days ago the german crane hire company Franz Bracht has opened a new location. Beside the existing 12 locations in North-Rhine-Westphalia they have now established a further facility for mobile cranes in Porta Westfalica, located right beside the Bundesstraße 482. We don't have information yet about the number and type of cranes based at the new facility. Further investments of the company will be executed for new cranes. Amongst several others a crawler crane type 7700 from Sennebogen and a Liebherr telescopic crane LTM 1500-8.1 will be added to the fleet of cranes.



Barnhart takes over Powell's crane rental division

KHL reports that Barnhart Crane & Rigging will purchase the crane rental division of Powell Companies. Powell's crane rental has locations in Knoxville and Johnson City, Tenneessee. Their crane fleet comprises boom trucks, all terrain cranes up to 300 USt and conventional truck cranes up to 150 USt. With this purchase Barnhart will increase its current number of 23 locations across the US.
